Jewelry is a present day artifact – a representation of our time, nature, and surroundings. It is passed down to our children, from generation to generation. It is traded between cultures and takes on a different meaning from every wearer, yet still bears the intent of the original maker deep in the soul of the piece. Jewelry is magical and transcendent. In hundreds and thousands of years, these pieces will be a representation of who we are and a reminder that we are here.
Emilie Shapiro is a traditionally trained metalsmith who uses contemporary techniques and experimentation to guide her through her work. Working mainly in recycled silver, bronze, nickel-free brass & copper, she also uses gemstones for their transcendant qualities. Emilie considers herself an alchemist - instilling value, ideas and ideals into her pieces for the wearer to carry on. All of her work is hand crafted in her studio in New York City.
